Phulpur Thana Police have arrested the accused who was involved in the murder of Rashida Begum (50), who was found naked in a corn field in Phulpur, Mymensingh. The arrested accused Nazim Uddin alias Naija (45) is the son of deceased Habibur Rahman of Bansati village of Chandhara union of Phulpur police station.

It is reported that the locals found the half-melted mutilated body of a woman in the maize field of Ahmed Ali in Madhyapara village of East Bashati upazila on 29 March 2023 at noon. After reporting to Phulpur police station, the police came and recovered the body of a half-melted woman from Bhuttakshet. At that time, according to the identification of the deceased’s step-sister and daughter, the body was identified as Rashida Begum (50), ex-husband A: Salam, current husband Tula Mia, Sang Harinadi, Phulpur. Seeing the condition of the body, the Phulpur Thana police initially assumed that it was a planned murder case. Later, the police entered the field to unravel the mystery of the incident.

Under the efficient leadership of Phulpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Abdullah Al Mamun, a team of vigilant police including SI Mofakhkhir Uddin Sangeet SI Suman Miah, ASI Shahidul Islam, ASI Ratan Chowdhury and ASI Mizan worked non-stop for 18 hours. With the help of information technology and reliable sources, the accused involved in the incident, Nazim Uddin alias Naija, was arrested on Thursday, March 30, 2023, from Narayankhola Ghatpar area of ​​Nakla Police Station on the eve of his escape to Dhaka.

After carrying out an operation with the accused, according to the information and confession given by him, the mobile phone used by the victim Rashida was recovered from the paddy field 40/45 yards away from the scene.

The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Phulpur police station, Md. Abdullah Al Mamun, told reporters that when the accused was sent to the learned court, the accused gave a confessional statement under section 164 regarding his involvement in the incident. After taking the prisoner’s statement, the learned court sent the accused Nazim Uddin alias Naija to jail.
