Chief advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus will attend the 79th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) later this month.
Adviser on foreign affairs. Tauhid Hossain confirmed the matter today.
He told reporters at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, “(However) the date of the Chief Adviser’s journey has not been finalized yet.”
The adviser said that the chief adviser will go to New York on a short visit. Tawhid also said that before the visit, he will discuss his tour schedule at UNGA with the chief advisor.
A foreign affairs adviser indicated that Yunus may attend a limited number of sideline meetings during his visit to New York.
When asked about Sheikh Hasina’s status in India, the Foreign Affairs Adviser advised journalists to ask the Indian authorities.
Towhid reiterated that the government will act according to the legal process if necessary to bring Sheikh Hasina back to Bangladesh. Regarding the recently signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with India, including in the railway sector, the Foreign Adviser said that it is not legally binding to uphold the MoUs. There is always scope for review in this case to protect national interest.
